INSIGHTS FROM DOCTIVITY HEALTH ON THE BUSINESS OF HEALTHCARE
Recruitment and Retention Key to Growing Practices
The world is changing everywhere, including in healthcare. As the pandemic continues to impact everyone’s life, administrators and teams must develop effective recruitment, retention, and practice building strategies with a laser focus to increase volume and revenue necessary to fund related staff support.
Recruitment and retention of experienced talent is arguably the most important part of an administrator’s job. You must get it right for the team and the organization to thrive. Understanding what providers are needed and the appropriate, corresponding business volume is imperative in developing the correct and best strategies for success.
Here are some key questions to be answered in planning the new provider business:
Is there a need to add surgeons, other specialists, or more primary care providers?
Depending on the specialty, how rare are the number of specialists available?
Are there enough specialists in the market (meaning will they need to take over some of the market or is there sufficient patient demand they can hire as many as needed)?
Is there access to the right facility or facilities? Is there access to both outpatient and inpatient procedures?
Is there up to date equipment for the new provider(s) to effectively care for patients?
To begin the process correctly, healthcare administrators need to evaluate data, and if you are like many other organizations, you have plenty of data – everywhere – data you need as well as data that complicates the situation without proper analysis. It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort for a team of staff (administrators, practice managers, analysts and others) to get to the internal data and other purchased data bases.
It would be much more efficient and accurate if the data is compiled and available all in one place so you could confidently:
Know which providers patients are seeing in your market for care
Know what kind of facility they are seen in (outpatient or inpatient)
Compare your organization by service line with competitors in the market
That’s possible with Doctivity Health. Doctivity’s revolutionary software solution provides a 360-degree view of your organization, providers and the market. It allows you to “see” where your group or facility has gaps in care so you can recruit the correct number of providers. Using the tools in Doctivity enables you to build the practice quickly, and recruit and retain providers because they will be able to do what they are trained to do – care for patients.
By understanding where patients are being seen you can better evaluate the need to renovate and/or construct facilities and purchase up-to-date technology. This ensures administrators will know the right type and number of needed staff as well as when to hire them to support the practice. How quickly the practice builds will further support the ability to add FTEs.
Doctivity provides a PRM tab that allows your physician liaisons to work with new providers in getting them out to see other practices and develop referral relationships. Doctivity also provides an activity tracking log so all users have access to the information and can build on each other’s discussions. What once typically took 18 months to grow a new physician practice can now be done in less than one year.
In the past, many healthcare leaders have experienced recruiting the best and brightest specialists only to see them leave the organization within a year or two due to not seeing the patients they want to and have been trained to see, or not having the right support staff or equipment. In short, their practice build did not meet their expectations.
Administrators must get recruitment and developing sound business building strategies right. Using tools that bring all the information together in one place (internal, external, facility, and market referral data) allows users to gain insights quickly and take action right away. With Doctivity, dashboards and easy to run reports are available immediately to understand performance and provide actionable insights.
Doctivity is a powerful business development tool that focuses on physician recruitment, strategic growth and planning, business development, physician relationship building and market analytics such as referral tracking, and provider-specific claims data.
Using Doctivity changes how you evaluate the need and ability to recruit the right providers, the correct number of providers, and how to retain them. The healthcare environment continues to evolve and change, and Doctivity gives you the information you need at the speed you need to change.
