INSIGHTS FROM DOCTIVITY HEALTH ON THE BUSINESS OF HEALTHCARE

A powerful tool to support business needs and provider productivity

By Susan B. Fetterman, RN, MSN, MBA, FACHE
Doctivity Health Clinical Operations Manager

As an experienced RN and healthcare administrator over a large provider group in an integrated health system, I needed to continually keep my fingers on the pulse of how providers, the market, referral relationships, and network providers were performing. I needed to be able to pivot quickly in response to changes in both specialty practice and facility needs. Like many of you, I had wonderful analysts and technical staff inside the organization that could provide reports to answer the questions, but it took too much time and reports had to get rerun because they did not answer the question I asked or find the solution I needed.

The overarching goal for all healthcare providers is to give patients the best healthcare possible, and to accomplish that, providers need to be engaged and supportive of the business side of healthcare. During my tenure as chief administrative officer of Geisinger Clinic, I needed to be able to obtain data that allowed me to act quickly to either improve productivity or take advantage of a market opportunity. Workflow issues needed to be identified and corrected fast so the impact to revenue was limited. If a surgical physician specialist was spending too much time with office visits and office procedures, I needed to change the workflow allowing the surgeons to do what they like to do most- surgery. This included adding advanced practitioners to see office visits and perform office procedures as appropriate.

Doctivity software was developed so that intelligence regarding workflow, referral leakage, ability to target referral sources to drive business, identifying loyalists, splitters, and mission critical non referral sources, precise liaison tactical planning, market expansion planning services, outreach, recruitment, and bricks and mortar planning could be readily available and assist in the development of new strategies to drive business.

This software brings all necessary data to you in one place. Imagine meeting with your team using software that can be interrogated and solve problems during the meeting. No need to rerun reports or wait for another analysis. Doctivity information is online and can be reported out by provider enabling decisions to be made quickly and appropriately. If needed, the report can be printed or emailed directly to the provider so they have the information in hand and can interact as needed.

Doctivity provides the data and analysis for everyone on your team to engage. This unique software gives providers and their practice administrators the ability to work together to build business, support providers’ growth needs, change providers’ behaviors, and take advantage of market opportunities as they arise in their catchment area.

Doctivity is a powerful tool that can be utilized by all levels of your organization to improve performance as well as manage provider relationships. Your client specific provider and facility metrics are imported in a HIPAA-compliant manner and is combined with external claims data to “see” how and where the provider is performing as well as other providers in your market.

Together the provider and the administrator can determine if there is additional provider need, specialty need or the opportunity to build better relationships in a specific market. you can quickly identify interventions and track results in the PRM section of the software. ROI tracking in the PRM section of the software is transparent to all levels of the organization. Engaging providers with administration to drive business so patients’ needs are met, and your provider group is supported is key to overall organizational success.
